Lok Sabha Passes Public Examinations Amendment Bill 2026

The Lok Sabha passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, via voice vote on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, to strengthen anti-cheating measures.

The legislation increases penalties for service providers to a maximum fine of ₹5 crore and mandates imprisonment of five to 10 years for personnel in charge of examinations.

Organised crime networks now face a minimum of seven years in jail and fines up to ₹10 crore, with both Houses of Parliament scheduled to reconvene on July 30, 2026.
