North Korea's UN mission criticized a new EU draft resolution addressing the country's human rights record, dismissing it as a politically motivated provocation.
Pyongyang argued that human rights are not a Western monopoly and urged the bloc to address domestic unrest in European cities instead.
The UN resolution, which has been adopted annually since 2005, is expected to face a vote in the Third Committee before full assembly consideration.
