The Indian rupee declined 4 paise to open at 96.39 against the U.S. dollar in early trade on Tuesday, driven by rising crude oil prices and sustained FII outflows.
Brent crude traded higher by 0.23% at $100.6 per barrel, while Foreign Institutional Investors offloaded equities worth ₹4,699.14 crore on a net basis on Monday.
Domestic equity markets provided cushioning, with the Sensex advancing 120.22 points to 72,535.41 and the Nifty rising 47.15 points to 22,603.10.
