Union Minister Announces Mobile Manufacturing Scheme to Boost Domestic Brands

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw notified a new mobile phone manufacturing scheme on August 21, 2026, offering extra incentives for Indian brands.

The government aims to establish a major homegrown Indian mobile brand by mid-2027 through targeted financial subsidies.

Apple is also expected to expand its manufacturing operations in India beyond iPhones to include iPads and MacBooks under the new policy.
