Tom Cruise's eco-satire film Digger, directed by Alejandro Inarritu, has underperformed at the box office with industry insiders predicting losses near $245 million.
The film grossed just $14.4 million in North America and $35.3 million globally after two weeks against a production budget estimated between $160 million and $180 million.
Industry analysts attributed the film's poor commercial performance to its art-house style and critical reception, which did not align with general audiences.
