The Kerala government issued orders to procure 2,159 bottles of Risdiplam, an at-home oral treatment for spinal muscular atrophy, according to Health Minister K. Muraleedharan.

The state has provided a less expensive domestic generic version called Natsmart since October 19, significantly lowering costs from ₹5.5 lakh to ₹11,000 per bottle.

The treatment is distributed through the KARE scheme to ensure continuous availability and reduce the financial burden on affected families.
