Director Shankar confirmed on Thursday that production on Indian 3 has officially commenced, sharing promotional posters featuring actors on horseback under the tagline 'war mode'.
The announcement follows rumors that the project was dropped after the sequel, Indian 2, grossed ₹148 crore worldwide against a ₹300 crore budget following its 2024 release.
Indian 3 will function as a prequel exploring the backstory of freedom fighter Senapathy's father, Veerasekaran Balaram, with much of the footage already shot alongside the second installment.
