Tamil Nadu seeks urgent Supreme Court intervention in Cauvery water dispute

The Tamil Nadu government approached the Supreme Court on Thursday, alleging that Karnataka has failed to release mandatory Cauvery water since October 23.

Counsel for Tamil Nadu stated that Karnataka is ignoring orders from the Cauvery Water Management Authority to release 3,000 cusecs of water daily.

The state warned the court that nearly four lakh hectares of crops are at risk of destruction; the bench agreed to list the matter early.
