Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty extended a seven-week losing streak on Monday, falling over 1 percent to near six-month lows.
Sensex traded around 72,888 down over 1,007 points while Nifty 50 fell 1.16 percent to 22,823 as all 30 Sensex constituents traded in the red.
A sharp rise in Brent crude above $107.8 per barrel and geopolitical tensions drove the market downturn, compounding worries for India's import bill.
