Ethiopian federal forces and allied militia entered the northwestern Tigrayan town of Adwa without a fight after it was abandoned by TPLF rebels.
Adwa lies roughly 40 kilometres from the Eritrean border, where recent clashes erupted in late September following TPLF gains in the Afar region.
Residents reported that shops were closed and government institutions, including Adwa Hospital, were looted overnight following the rebel departure.
