Census 2027 to Include Caste and Vaccination Data in 40 Questions

The Union Government notified 40 questions for the 2027 Census, marking the first time caste will be enumerated in Independent India for non-SC/ST categories.

The questionnaire includes details on Covid-19 vaccination, bank accounts, and identification numbers like Aadhaar, voter ID, passport, and driving licence.

The second phase of the census begins on August 17, 2026, in Ladakh and snow-bound areas of J&K, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, ahead of the national rollout in February 2027.
