Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh has flagged an abnormal ten-day delay in proroguing the Lok Sabha following its sine die adjournment on August 13, 2026.
Ramesh questioned if the government is struggling to secure a two-thirds majority required to pass a Constitutional Amendment Bill on Delimitation during a potential Special Session.
While parliamentary practice typically sees prorogation within two to four days, the current delay has prompted the opposition to demand an explanation from the Union government.
