Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that the India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement will come into force on October 20, 2026, coinciding with Dussehra.
The pact provides duty-free access for 100 per cent of India's exports to New Zealand and secures a $20 billion investment commitment from New Zealand over 15 years.
Both countries aim to double bilateral trade in goods and services to NZ$7 billion by 2030, while sensitive sectors like dairy and onions remain excluded.
