Government Imposes 9-SIM Card Limit Effective August 24

The Department of Telecommunications will enforce a nine-SIM card limit per individual starting August 24, requiring operators to block new connections for users who have already reached this threshold.

Telecom providers must integrate with the Digital Intelligence Platform by November 30 to cross-check subscriber records and identify users attempting to exceed the ceiling across different operators and circles.

Subscribers in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and North-Eastern states remain subject to a separate, lower limit of six mobile connections as per the existing regulatory framework.
