Nirma University in Ahmedabad ordered a seven-day inquiry into a confrontation where a professor grabbed a student's collar during a campus event.
The incident occurred during Technofora 2026 following a performance by comedian Rajat Sood, after a student shouted a film dialogue from the audience.
A three-member committee of senior deans will examine the incident, while student bodies staged protests demanding an impartial investigation and academic protection for the student.
