Saudi Arabia's civil defence agency reported that shrapnel fell in the Mecca and Medina regions after air defences intercepted ballistic missiles launched by Yemen's Houthi militia.
Fragments landed in Wadi Mughamas outside Mecca, Al-Nuzha in Jeddah, Wadi Jalil in Taif, and Rabigh following warnings of potential danger in western provinces.
The cross-border escalation followed Houthi claims of targeting multiple Saudi sites, including airports, oil facilities, and a pipeline.
