Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay clarified on Tuesday that his body language during a September 7 Assembly debate was inadvertent and not intended to hurt anyone.
The clarification followed strong objections from CPI(M) State secretary P. Shanmugam, who accused the Chief Minister of body-shaming DMK president M.K. Stalin over a jaw injury sustained during the Emergency.
Mr. Vijay issued a statement on X requesting that his gestures not be misconstrued, as the CPI(M) announced it would boycott the TVK’s second meeting with allies on September 9.
