The Tamil Nadu government petitioned the Supreme Court on Monday to direct Karnataka to release 3,500 cusecs of Cauvery water daily for 15 days as per a July 30 authority decision.
Tamil Nadu claims a shortfall of 26.954 TMC of water from June 1 to August 12, arguing that Karnataka has failed to comply despite having 77.537 TMC in its four major reservoirs.
The state requested the Supreme Court to order the Cauvery Water Management Authority to monitor reservoir flows every 10 days to ensure stipulated water releases at the Billigundulu inter-state point.
