Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane won the men's Ballon d'Or at a ceremony in London, becoming the first English player to receive the award since Michael Owen in 2001.
Kane scored 73 goals for club and country last season, led Bayern to the Bundesliga and German Cup double, and captained England to a third-place finish at the World Cup where he scored six goals.
In the women's category, Spain's Alexia Putellas won her third Ballon d'Or after leading Barcelona to multiple trophies including the Women's Champions League and helping Spain win the Women's Nations League.
