Congo Ebola Outbreak Death Toll Exceeds 3,000

Congo's ongoing Ebola outbreak has resulted in 3,007 deaths out of 6,186 confirmed cases since the crisis was declared in mid-May.

The World Health Organization warns the current spread is the fastest on record, threatening to surpass the 2014-2016 West African epidemic that claimed 11,000 lives.

Health officials are distributing the Ervebo vaccine across six affected provinces to combat the rare Bundibugyo virus, which currently lacks any other approved treatment.
