World Rhino Day highlights India-Bhutan joint conservation needs

Manas National Park marked World Rhino Day on Tuesday celebrating three consecutive years of zero poaching and a population recovery to 48 rhinos.

A translocation program initiated in 2006 successfully increased the one-horned rhino population in the tiger reserve from zero to nearly 50 over two decades.

Rhino specialists called for a formal bilateral conservation partnership with Bhutan due to the increasing movement of the herbivores across the international border.
