University of Vermont researchers documented the fourth natural instance of contagious cancer in animals.

The study found that melanoma in brown bullhead catfish from Lake Memphremagog originated in fish from outside the lake.

Researchers noted the finding could provide clues on preventing organ transplant rejection because the fish immune system does not reject non-self cells.
