The Kurdistan Regional Government has officially introduced chess into the school curriculum for students in Grades 7, 8, and 9, supported by the Ministry of Education and the Iraqi Chess Federation.
The Khanzad Chess Club developed the specialized curriculum, which includes a 15-page dedicated section in the official Physical Education Teacher's Guide to facilitate classroom instruction.
To prepare for the rollout, 150 Physical Education teachers from Erbil completed a one-week intensive training course conducted by international trainers to ensure effective implementation of the program.
