The Indian rupee gained 14 paise to reach 95.85 against the U.S. dollar in early trade on Friday, supported by positive domestic equities.
Forex traders noted that currency gains were checked by persistent dollar demand from domestic importers, elevated crude prices, and a strong dollar index.
Brent crude futures traded 0.85% lower at $105.69 per barrel, while foreign institutional investors offloaded equities worth ₹5,027.36 crore on Thursday.
