Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with 82 National Award-winning teachers on September 4, 2026, urging them to actively monitor students for excessive screen time and potential drug addiction.
The awardees included 48 teachers from the Department of School Education and Literacy, 21 from higher education institutions, and 13 skill trainers from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Modi suggested that teachers encourage students to participate in sports and creative activities to reduce mobile phone usage and help preserve childhood curiosity beyond academic performance.
