Ladakh State Election Commission Announces First Panchayat Polls For November 21

Ladakh will hold its first Gram Panchayat elections across all Panchayat Halqas on November 21 since becoming a Union Territory in 2019, with results expected before November 30.

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena notified 100 constituencies for the region's eight Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils, doubling the number of councillors from 52.

The administrative restructuring also includes the creation of five new tehsils and the establishment of Sankoo as Ladakh's eighth district to improve local public service delivery.
