The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has banned specific whisky and rum brands from Diageo and Inbrew for using unauthorized flavour additives.
Regulators stated that these companies used synthetic flavours to mimic natural liquor profiles, which misleads consumers regarding the chemical composition of the products.
The companies have been ordered to recall the affected batches immediately, marking a significant crackdown on quality standards in the Indian alcobev industry.
