Mountaineer Nirmal Purja Dies in Pakistan Avalanche

Renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja and nine other climbers died after being struck by an avalanche on the 8,051-metre Broad Peak in Pakistan on Thursday.

The expedition group included climbers from Nepal, Oman, the United States, Pakistan, and China, with rescuers confirming the recovery of three bodies by Friday.

Purja, a 43-year-old former British army soldier, gained global fame for his 2019 record of summiting the world's 14 highest peaks in 189 days.
