The Tamil Nadu government transferred Director General of Police for prisons and correctional services, Dr Sandeep Rai Rathore, following two jailbreaks in a week.
Rathore has been reassigned as the DGP-chief vigilance officer in TANGEDCO, while K Shankar has been appointed as his successor.
All 17 prisoners who escaped from the Theni district jail on October 26 were recaptured by October 28, resulting in the suspension of nine jail staff.
