Supreme Court Examines Delhi Police Coordination With MHA During NEET Protests

The Supreme Court is reviewing whether the Delhi Police consulted the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the July 20 crackdown on NEET-UG protesters in the national capital.

Under Article 239AA of the Constitution, the MHA maintains control over the Delhi Police, a practice historically supported by a 2012 Supreme Court judgment regarding the Ramlila Maidan incident.

The Leader of the Opposition has questioned if the Home Minister authorized the use of force, while petitioners compare the July 20 police action to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
