The Tamil Nadu Department of Collegiate Education withdrew an August 17 order that directed college principals to prevent students from participating in protests and agitations.

The directive, which sought action-taken reports by August 20, specifically targeted demonstrations organized by Left parties and the Cockroach Janata Party.

The government also transferred a Tahsildar in Guzhiliyamparai after a similar order seeking details of political party members was exposed by MP R. Sachithanantham.
