Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Tuesday that Russia will be barred from competing in the upcoming world junior hockey tournament in Alberta.
The decision aligns with a boycott led by European federations including Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic, Norway, Latvia, and Denmark over the war in Ukraine.
Federal ministers stated that existing laws will be used to prevent Russian and Belarusian national teams from competing under national symbols on Canadian soil.
