Labourers Discover 17.96-Carat Diamond Worth ₹50 Lakh in Panna

Seven labourers in Panna, Madhya Pradesh, discovered a 17.96-carat gem-quality diamond on a leased plot of land, with officials estimating its value at a minimum of ₹50 lakh.

The diamond will be auctioned in the first half of October, with the government deducting a 12% royalty from the final sale proceeds before distributing the remainder among the seven finders.

The discovery occurred on Monday after the miners, who had previously closed the mine for a year due to lack of success, inspected the site following heavy monsoon rains.
