A private bus overturned and plunged onto a lower road in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district at 7.15 a.m. on August 8, 2026, resulting in at least seven deaths and 11 injuries.
The accident occurred on the 27-kilometre Bairagarh-Tissa road near Chalunj Mor, a treacherous mountain route, with six of the injured currently receiving treatment at Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College.
Police and rescue teams, including the NDRF, are continuing operations at the site, noting that the death toll may rise as more passengers could be trapped under the bus wreckage.
