President Donald Trump announced Friday that the United States has entered into an agreement with Denmark and Greenland providing the US permanent control over security and other needs in Greenland at no cost.
The pact follows earlier discussions regarding an expanded US military presence and potential arrangements to utilize Greenlandic territory for a massive missile defense shield called the Golden Dome.
Discussions between the parties also aimed to limit Chinese presence and influence over the island, with an official announcement anticipated in the coming days or weeks.
