Supreme Court seeks ECI response on Rahul Gandhi's plea over SIR

The Supreme Court issued notice to the ECI and three election commissioners on a petition by Rahul Gandhi and 12 INDIA bloc leaders seeking an inquiry into electoral irregularities and poll panel functioning.

The petition seeks a time-bound investigation into allegations that CEC Gyanesh Kumar took unilateral decisions and calls for suspending the ongoing special intensive revision of electoral rolls.

A bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi issued a provisional notice to JMM leader Mahua Maji, demanding an explanation for her statements and conduct.
