Anthropic Proposes Legislation to Regulate US AI Models

Anthropic confirmed on Friday that it is circulating a draft federal bill among US lawmakers aimed at establishing comprehensive artificial intelligence regulations.

The proposed legislation would empower Washington to block model deployments carrying imminent risks of mass casualties or massive financial damage, subject to judicial approval.

The draft also mandates independent evaluations and public safety transparency, and it would override certain state-level laws such as those in California.
