Two men were arrested in Wuhan, China, on July 20 for stealing high-end Nvidia RTX 5080 graphics cards from gaming hotel rooms and replacing them with cheaper RTX 3060 units.
The suspects reportedly generated 80,000 yuan (approximately $80,000) by selling the stolen hardware at half the market price before a power outage on July 18 led to their discovery.
Police recovered two stolen graphics cards that had not yet been shipped to buyers after hotel staff investigated the tampered PC cases following the suspects' request for a room change.
