The Students' Federation of India alleged discrepancies in how Jawaharlal Nehru University implemented reservation norms for PhD admissions during the 2026-27 academic session.
SFI claimed that the university's prospectus advertised 38 seats for ST candidates against a required 53, and 17 seats for persons with benchmark disabilities against a minimum of 36.
The National Commissions for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have reportedly taken cognisance of the complaints and issued notices to university authorities.
