Director Nelson Dilipkumar initially hesitated to direct Jailer 2 with Rajinikanth, preferring to postpone a Telugu film commitment to develop the script.
Rajinikanth revealed he generally dislikes sequels but agreed after seeing potential in the first film's ending involving a huge network and three containers of money.
Jailer 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on October 16, following its announcement after the massive success of the original 2023 film.
