Xi and Modi welcome steady progress in India-China ties at BRICS Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping met on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi on Saturday, welcoming steady progress in bilateral relations since August 2025.

The External Affairs Ministry stated that both leaders reaffirmed that a strategic perspective should guide ties, emphasizing that differences must not become disputes and committing to a fair boundary resolution.

The leaders agreed to continue expanding common ground on regional and global challenges, with Mr. Xi outlining four points for long-term development and calling for a political settlement in West Asia.
