Tamil Nadu recorded 13,573 dengue cases and nine deaths between January 1 and August 30, 2026, with infections rising significantly during July and August.
Swine flu cases have also surged to over 1,500 this year, with August alone accounting for 645 infections compared to just 46 in the same month last year.
Chennai reported the highest dengue burden with 2,584 cases, prompting health officials to advise isolation for swine flu patients and the elimination of mosquito-breeding sites.
