US President Donald Trump Rejects Iranian Proposal to Reopen Strait of Hormuz

U.S. President Donald Trump rejected a truce proposal from Iran on Saturday that Tehran claimed could have reopened the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping within a week.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the proposal involved a complete cessation of hostilities in West Asia and was developed in coordination with supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

The proposal's conditions mirrored an earlier memorandum of understanding calling for the release of frozen Iranian assets, lifting oil sanctions, and ending the U.S. naval blockade.
