
Former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar, 81, died at Safdarjung Hospital on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. while serving a life sentence for his role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Kumar was admitted to the hospital at 11:00 a.m. with altered sensorium and a history of high blood pressure and Parkinson’s disease, but could not be saved despite life-support measures.
He was convicted by the Delhi High Court on December 17, 2018, for the murder of five Sikhs and had been lodged in Tihar Jail since his conviction.
