UGC Warns Against EdTech Franchises for Online Degrees

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has identified 32 fake universities and issued a formal warning against EdTech companies offering franchise-based online or ODL degrees.

The regulator clarified that degrees issued through unauthorized third-party partnerships are invalid and will not be recognized for government employment or higher studies.

Students are advised to verify the accreditation status of any online program on the official UGC website before enrolling in courses offered by private platforms.
