A bipartisan group of U.S. Senators questioned the legality of President Donald Trump's decision to allow the immediate import of 300,000 tons of Russian diesel.
The lawmakers argued that the agreement runs counter to a 2002 congressional ban prohibiting Russian energy imports until Moscow ends its war in Ukraine.
The Senators stated that the Trump administration failed to consult Congress or submit required statutory explanations for lifting the restrictions.
