Philadelphia School District Welcomes 575 New Educators for Upcoming Term

The Philadelphia School District has hired 575 new teachers and counselors to prepare for the return of 113,000 students on August 24.

Superintendent Tony B. Watlington Sr. confirmed that 94 percent of teacher positions and 100 percent of principal roles are currently filled across the district.

The hiring season followed a period of budget uncertainty, with Mayor Cherelle L. Parker providing funding to restore 340 school-based positions that were initially slated for reduction.
