THE BRIEF
1

A satellite-based assessment by Suhora Technologies revealed a 73% reduction in the surface area of Sintaphu Tsho following an October 29 glacial lake outburst flood in Bhutan's Gasa district.

2

The affected high-altitude Himalayan lake shrank from 24.13 hectares to 6.54 hectares, while an adjoining supraglacial lake saw a 24.4% reduction down to 12.47 hectares.

3

The outburst destroyed facilities at Gasa Tshachu and triggered flash flood warnings for downstream regions in West Bengal and Assam.
