The Supreme Court criticised the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights on Tuesday for showing indifference in enforcing the 25% EWS quota in private schools.
The bench noted that while the NCPCR has a standard operating procedure, these guidelines remain unenforceable without proper subordinate legislation and rules.
The court ordered the NCPCR chairperson to attend the next hearing to understand the enormity of the task entrusted to the statutory body.
