The Ministry of Education has trained 72 lakh teachers across 60,000 schools nationwide to identify children with probable disabilities using the digital screening tool PRASHAST.
General teachers use the tool's first-part checklist this month to spot observable behaviours across 21 disability conditions, while special educators validate cases and arrange medical referrals.
Screening findings will link with UDID card applications to enrol students in the PM DAKSH scheme and National Scholarship Portal for central and state scholarships.
